What is a primer?
That was exactly my first question almost a year ago before I knew what is a primer & the importance of it when I attended a beauty/ make-up workshop with my friend.
Received Collection Cosmetics Primed & Ready Smoothing Makeup Primer (c/o Sample Store & Collection Cosmetics) and I'm sharing the product review with you guys today. First, answering the question: A primer acts like a moisturizer and provides light coverage for flawless complexion, resulting in a natural & matte finish. It is able to minimize pore problems, smoothes uneven skin & hide blemishes.
Here's the comparison between 3 brands of primer that I own.

As you can see, the primer is transparent, different from Brand X which is tinted. I'd say that tinted primer does a better job at concealing/ minimizing pores (which should be the case anyway, since it's tinted). Since Collection Cosmetics' primer is transparent, I'd say there's minimal coverage but out of the three primers, it is also the one that glides on most easily. It starts off as being oily but as it dries, it leaves your skin really smooth and even. I'm not exaggerating. I feel that a primer's main function should be to even out the skin for easier application of make-up instead of concealing else what's the use of foundation & concealer right? Packaging comes in a pretty hot pink & black tube that's easy to bring around. However, a possible downside would be the big opening which can be a waste if you accidentally squeeze too much of the primer (compare the thickness of primer squeezed out in the photo above).
