Between red & blue

Set foot on Chinatown yesterday after a superrrrrrr long time. I guess the previous time I went was in primary school? I can't actually remember lol. Lugged my heavy camera out but ended up with few pictures cuz I don't know what's so nice about it. Everything looked so old to me, I can't appreciate anything except the lanterns and the pretty shophouses?

Things at People's Park are so overpriced. Mum was looking out for jeans and saw that they were selling it at $129/$139?! Seriously with that price, we could have visited any shopping centres to get one that's cheaper. We tried the Tiong bahru Pau/ Pastry/ Dimsum stall on the first level (with yellow signboard) and the food was ugh. Supposedly popular but the food was just not up to standard. They sold their dimsum not by tray but by per piece. Each har gaw and siewmai cost $0.90, almost the same as those in shopping centres. But their siewmai tasted like those meat in meat pau, their har gaw has no prawns but the same type of meat as the siewmai. WHAT. Tried their carrot cake and egg tarts as well, none met the standard. Plus their char siew pastry was the length of my pinky, which is like damn short. I've never seen any char siew pastry like that before.

Left People's Park after a while 'cuz there wasn't much to buy and we went to the streets opposite. Here are all the pretty lanterns and vintage shophouses!!

Fanciful designs at the paper-cutting stalls, cheap luggage tags, antiques were pretty much what I saw. And the 3 for $10 shop that sold souvenirs and some other things. 1 item costs $4, 2 for $7 and 3 for $10! Got 2 long wallets from there, it was seriously damn cheap. Use for 10 days (each day costs $0.30 LOL) before I decide on which wallet to get maybe by the end of month. 3 days later? Hahaha

Walked from Chinatown to Clarke Quay and got ourselves so exhausted. Got a cup of hot coffee from Starbucks but didn't get seats because they were having 1-for-1. Well, crowded as expected. Didn't get to try Santouka and Marutama Ramen cuz mum didn't like ramen... Next time!! Definitely going back to try it, my endless cravings.

Took a few pictures at the river side, using the colourful buildings as backdrop!

Clementi hawker for dinner cuz I've no idea where else to go. But I've discovered a fruit juice stall that's good!! It's the one beside the famous goreng pisang stall, and the fishball noodles stall (separated by an aisle). Had their apple pear juice today and yesterday. I love fruit juice so much that it's fruit juice > bubbletea!! Got another 2 bottles of Charlie's juice, chamomile tea & blackball before heading home :)

Anyway, looking at the pictures now, I should make the effort to bring my camera out everywhere I go 'cuz the quality of pictures that I get is way better than using phone camera. And before my camera dies....
